Kasper Juffermans
has been working at Porto Mari Sports since 2019, first as an instructor and since the end of 2020 also as a manager / owner. Kasper was born in Rotterdam, lived his childhood in the Netherlands and teenage years in Belgium (Flanders), and then studied, lived, and worked in Leuven, Ghent, Hong Kong, Tilburg, Hamburg, and Luxembourg. In his previous career, he was a university researcher and lecturer in sociolinguistics specializing in West Africa. A few years ago it was time for a change (or rather for a little more fortitude) and he moved to the Caribbean with his family.
Kasper is now a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer and also an instructor at IDD. In addition to Porto Mari, he likes to dive at Double Reef and preferably with the current towards Fisherman’s Wharf. On the house reef of Porto Mari he likes to look for the different types of shrimp in the anemones but also always hopes for encounters with the rarer bigger life (turtles and rays) and is still waiting for a first encounter with a dolphin, whale shark or manta ray. He especially likes to take people underwater for the first time or to explain dive theory to divemaster candidates (or whoever wants to hear it). You can also go to Kasper for a deep diving or a sidemount course.
Kasper is a father of two children – both of whom also dive – and together with his wife Caroline who can occasionally be seen at the diving school (although she rarely dives), he also runs Annidas Sambuyá Studios and Apartments in Julianadorp.
