Self-Reliant Diver

Although diving with a buddy is the norm, there are reasons for an experienced diver to learn to dive self-reliantly and independently.

With the right training and equipment, and if the diver is aware of the risks of solo diving, an experienced diver can dive responsibly without a buddy. Solo diving is an adventurous activity that is not suitable for everyone, but that does have a place in diving.

If you have the discipline and dedication to learn solo diving techniques and follow them, this will boost your skills and confidence when diving solo, with a buddy, or in a team.
